In the urban areas of Uttar Pradesh, India, hand pumps that provide clean water exist, as do latrines; however, few people are using them. ADRA will begin a training campaign to mothers, children, and schoolteachers on hygiene, sanitation, and the benefits of clean water. This campaign will include the importance of hand washing, garbage collection and disposal, the proper use of latrines, and why safe drinking water is necessary to life. In addition, each schoolchild will receive an activity book, soap, a toothbrush and toothpaste, and a set of colored pencils. The clean water and latrines already exist.
